The last month of school is here and as the calendar indicates, we only have 12 days of school in May. LEAP testing will end on the 4th, and the rest of the month will be full of end of year activities and celebrations. Our Student Council has planned a Spirit Week to coincide with Staff Appreciation Week! I hope everyone shows our staff appreciation! Here are the daily treats we are recommending for teachers, para educators, support personnel and administrators:

Monday: Card Day
Tuesday: Plants or Flowers
Wednesday: Candy/Candle
Thursday: Fruit
Friday: Small Gift Get in the BFE SPIRIT!!

Ninth Annual Environmental Awareness Fair

Our Environmental Awareness Fair is Monday, May 7th from 10 AM until 2 PM. We will come together with the single idea and purpose of celebrating our environment. With the participation of many individuals and agencies in our community, this event, in its 9 th year, provides environmental education to our students, staff and families. Please come out and participate in this fantastic event. Our organizer is Ms. Ambler, our Social Worker. As she puts it, we welcome you to this year’s fair and look forward to yet another year of curiosity, love, and learning!

Making Connections

Our theme this year was Making Connections. We have successfully navigated through the year, making connections inside the classroom and out. As this was our first year of full TAP (Teacher Advancement Program) implementation, our staff made connections with the NIET (National Institute for Excellence in Teaching) rubric and it showed in the classrooms, cluster, and leadership meetings. Our students made connections throughout each day in every class with big ideas and a focus on standards, objectives, and activities. Our PTO made connections throughout the school year and have finished strong with a dedicated Executive Board who is already planning for the 2018-2019 school year. We also have parents who have connected with the school as volunteers taking time off from work or leisure to attend field trips and other activities. Our teachers have connected all year with parents through Class DOJO, keeping our families informed. Make sure you stay connected over the summer months.
